As you might have noticed, I've done a bit of a dump on this blog today. I'll try to be a bit more level about it in future, posting various things as they come along rather than in one big glut. But posts are always good, so do get in touch if you have any pictures of random graff or general Mancunian drivel. Drop an email to shout@manchesterisshit.com and we'll post up your stuff.

Photos of Skins style parties are also encouraged. If only to prove that they exist. I've got a bet on that says they don't but then perhaps I'm just too old to find out.

Having spent vast swathes of my life as an office slacker, I know the simple joy in firing up MS Paint and doodling for a few hours. Not only is it available on any office PC but it also makes anything you attempt to draw look uniformly crap. I've come to embrace the mediocrity of all MS Paint offerings and love the naive charm that a 16 colour palette can bring. Today I've been emailed by Anthony who shares my joy. Together with his friend Diarmuid he has created a Facebook group which seeks to recreate classic and not quite so classic album artwork via the medium of MS Paint.

The submissions vary wildly in quality but I like the ones where even the basic tools are ignored by the artists. This version of Selected Ambient Works 85-92 could have easily made use of the circle tool but I think it's all the better because it doesn't.

Jon Bodfish's take on The Very Best of Hall and Oates is frankly going to give me nightmares.

Join the Facebook group by searching for 'Let's redo classic album covers using micrsoft paint' if you want to see more or make a submission. If you just want to browse the artworks, head over to www.paintmyalbum.net for the current wall of fame. They are aiming for 2000 albums completed by 23rd December 2009. They don't explain the relevance of the deadline in their email but I'm sure we should all pitch in and help them out if we can.
